Developer Motion Twin's superb action-platform rogue-like Dead Cells is, as announced at the tail-end of last year, poised to inaugurate its first paid DLC. It's called The Bad Seed and is now confirmed to be heading to PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One, on 11th February.

The Bad Seed's biggest additions come in the shape of two new biomes. There's the plush Arboretum (home to a clan of mushrooms), and an overgrown settlement referred to as The Swamp, inhabited by tree-dwelling mutants, frogmen, and deadly bloodsuckers.

These new areas are intended to supply new path choices for Dead Cells' early game, and supply alternative routes to The Courtyard/Toxic Sewers and therefore the Ramparts/Ossuary/Ancient Sewers.

The Bad Seed also brings a brand-new boss referred to as Mama Tick, who resides within the the guts of the Swamp. Motion Twin says this new encounter is "on par with The Concierge" and is meant to "spice up your early game runs once you've played through the core game"

There's also promise of latest enemies and weapons, plus "unseen mechanic". And, while it doesn't elaborate further, the developer previously teased that Bad Seed would feature Dead Cells' first double-slot weapon and a "very dedicated and constant mushroom companion".

Dead Cells' Bad Seed DLC follows a year of free updates for the core experience, and will, consistent with Motion Twin, help support further expansion and provides the developer the time it must make its next game one it's "proud of and you will be stoked to play".

Bad Seed will cost $4.99 USD (approximately £4) when it involves Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 11th February.
